standstill

happy new year

when i first started this site i thought about making some sort of "monthly mail" thing where i do something new every month, especially since i'm supposed to go to college next year. i forgot about it. whoops.

did a few things that i'm proud of recently.

spritework

a 32x32 pixel-art of a redhead woman

a 32x32 pixel-art of a purple-haired woman in a suit

i made two sprites !!! :3

not many, but i think they're cool and more than i thought i would've made

do you ever feel that you've peaked the first time and every future thing you try to make in the style of the first one is a shoddy replica. i can't seem to get the second character to look quite right.

these are supposed to be for a small-scoped "fighting" game based off the world that me and a friend made.

i have these two small silly cats i drew that i don't think i'll be able to ever draw again, and i hate it because the game idea around it seems so cool.

two cats, green and purple, starting at each other

(1-bit platformer pack)

i think i'm starting to figure out a consistent way of drawing :3c

also, rim shading is cool

rim-shaded redhead

oneshot

a homemade minecraft skin of niko from oneshot with a red parrot on their head

niko oneshot !!!

this little goober is made with Figura and its community libraries SquishyAPI and Figura PhysBone API.

it's kinda like Customizable Player Models except it's stored in the cloud rather than in your minecraft skin (methinks). this makes it more powerful/flexible than cpm. they both work client-sided, however, and do not require a server installation.

these are both really cool projects with nice artsy communities. please look into them :3

niko looks a little more feminine than gender ambiguous than i wish.

the eyes are also emissive; they glow at night :3

you can download the file (album) if you want. it's pretty bare bones though, and it doesn't add, change, or remove animations. there's also the fact that niko doesn't hold any light bulb too.

(figura has in-dev versions for newer minecraft versions in their discord)

minecraft

it's like the dark continent.

a traveler in a boat between two landmasses. the left is a big, tall, natural island; the right side is a sharp, blocky landmass, like you've added or removed a terrain generation mod in the middle of playing

i don't know what i did, but the terrain generation from the mods got messed up.

the unfortunate part is that i don't think i can tell what mod it was that caused this since i literally haven't ventured far from the island for most of my playtime.

it's actually so devastating too; there was a gigantic mushroom island that's so cool and then it's getting cut through by a forest.

an overhead view of a gigantic mushroom island with a newer spruce forest in the middle. the farther chunks are from previous generation by the Distant Horizons mod; there are nostalgia biomes from biomes o plenty on the left and right

i think i'm just gonna abandon this world or try to make do with this island. this sucks. 3:

tetr.io

tetr.io's zenith tower showing that my final altitude is 1,003.5m

the tetr.io discord quick play link channel showing my reaction after i accidentally exited out (heartbroken)

history showing 1,003.5 meters achieved 2 minutes ago with my career best being 953.9 meters 27 days ago

i peaked. it's all downhill from here. i'm writing this within minutes. i'm shaking. i'm so happy. this was at least 2 months of progress. tetris is awesome.

what is this?

tetr.io is an implementation of tetris, a puzzle stacker, that you can play in your browser. you're tasked with clearing lines by filling a row with blocks.

in tetris' vs multiplayer, players can send each other garbage blocks, which are grey, by doing tricks and clearing lines, which can KO the other player given enough pressure.

zenith tower, also known as quick play 2, is a vs multiplayer mode in tetr.io where you stack and clear lines as best as you can and surpass the other players. it's not quite like tetris 99.

you can climb up faster in a variety of ways, like back-2-backs, doing a tetris (4 line clears at once with an i-block), and t-spins.

depending on how good you are, this mode can be pretty vicious. if you don't really play tetris, you'll probably get lower than <200 meters, and it only gets harder from here. sometimes, you'll get a whole bunch of garbage in the blink of an eye.

needless to say, i'm so cool

ok. an hour passed. i calmed down a little now. what's neat is that i feel like, looking at the other players, i can get way higher in quick play; i really feel like i need to stack a little better and get quicker (and a few other things).

cell phone policy

today, it's now in effect. and guess what, even IF my ipod isn't considered a cell phone under definition, the EARBUDS are banned. they got me there 3:

end

i feel like i should be finishing something but i'm incredibly disloyal to my projects.

this post was really gonna be like "oh i feel so unsuccessful" but who guessed that laying out what i've done really quelled these thoughts.

alright, byby v^]:3

a rimlit niko oneshot plushie facing you
