let's talk about i might just switch back to linux mint.

I'M STILL GOING WITH NIXOS!!!!

nixos (the general idea of it at least) is really good. i can configure my system in one single git repository and it's so nice, and the options abstract away from the hard parts.

the article still holds water though. sometimes you'd really want simplicity, and nixos is not that. you'll want to slam your head into a wall almost every step in the way. packages will probably not work from version to version for some reason like with aseprite once. or tmux. whatever. errors are terrible and you'll have to surf up --show-trace and find what's actually relevant; the actual error is buried under 50 other traces. meanwhile, the docs are just ok.

but it's nice. i'm refactoring my configuration from the ground up just the way i like it, and i'm working on its git repo while on my current (old) configuration. it's like making my own distribution, shipping my desired packages and services with the system (that's a stretch).

the governance and moderation is some cause for concern, and it's unfortunate because it really does sound like a good idea that needs good execution, and nixos (and guix) is the one of the only popular solutions. i at least hope the ego lives on (as well as good execution).

i'm probably gonna make a little page at some point on some nix things you're probably gonna use practically if you're gonna be using it because it would've been helpful to me to not just kinda go through other people's nixos configurations.

ok so i was rewatching lucky star and there was chicken curry and i was like

oh that sounds cool

so i* DID and it went okay

shoutout to my local oriental store for having curry roux/cubes.

didn't have the right chicken though so had to use boned chicken and it took way longer than expected; 40 minutes longer probably?

twas using this recipe by the way. it's good. i'm open to trying another one though.

i just don't know how to cook more complex things 3: i had to rely on my parents but i learned a few things.

hopefully i get to cook it again :3 i want to taste what it was supposed to taste like, but it was good nonetheless. the spice is mild (because of the box i got) but really good idk how to describe it well it's just really nice. but close your doors.
